In the year 2007, The Cornelius Wilson Foundation began serving as the fudiciary agent for the African American Police League.

The foundation is named for Cornelius Wilson, the first African American police officer killed in the line of duty in Chicago.

Officer Wilson was killed on May 1, 1919 at 37th and State Streets.
